LG launches steam-cleaning dishwasher

After announcing it in July last year, LG has finally launched its TrueSteam Dishwasher, a free-standing unit that steam cleans your dishes.

According to LG, the TrueSteam Dishwasher reduces the need for rinsing your dishes before putting them in the dishwasher, cleaning them with high-pressure steam nozzles that are simultaneously powerful enough for pans with cooked-on grime and fine tableware.

It does this with the rack system: the "delicate" china is placed in the top rack, with the bottom reserved for the heavy-duty pots and pans.

According to the press release, "Steam temperature and pressure is managed by the built-in steam generator, and the resulting particles are powerful enough to tackle the toughest burnt-on and dried-up food remains. Just one drop of water when heated is equivalent to 1600 steam molecules for powerful cleaning, so the result is superior performance that is exceptionally gentle, regardless of how tough the grime or delicate the dish is."

Whether it makes your dishes cleaner than a regular dishwasher (it certainly takes longer), it is quieter, and its modular rack system is what makes it the most interesting; you can adjust the racks and baskets to fit whatever size dishes you happen to have.

The LG TrueSteam Dishwasher also has a half-load option, for lighter washes, 14 place settings, six programs and a WELS rating of four stars (13.5L of water per wash).

It's available now for an RRP of AU$1599. And it doesn't glow with an otherworldly purple light.
