'Leaked' spec label details revamped 15-inch MacBook Pro

Spec sheet sent anonymously to 9to5Mac describes a new model that is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, as well as sporting a higher resolution screen.

More "leaked" information seems to support speculation that Apple will soon revamp its line of MacBook Pros.

A new spec sheet sent anonymously to 9to5Mac.com today -- the kind Apple puts on the packaging of its computers -- suggests we may soon see a revamped 15-inch model, in addition to a new 13-inch version teased earlier in the day. The MacBook Pro packaging label is similar to an alleged spec sheet for a 13-inch version that surfaced on Chinese Web site Weiphone. While 9to5Mac goes to great lengths to emphasize that the information is unconfirmed, the image indicates the new laptop will be thinner and lighter than its predecessor and feature a higher-resolution display.

Putting it in nearly the same league as the MacBook Air, the new 15-inch model is described in the image as being 0.74 inches thick and weighing 4.7 pounds (the current model is 0.95 inches thick and weighs 5.6 pounds).

In addition to four USB 3.0 ports, it would also feature a 2560x1600 high-resolution Retina display that up until now have only been available on Apple's iPhones and iPads. NPD DisplaySearch Senior Analyst Richard Shim told CNET last month that such panels were already in the supply chain.

The label shows the new laptop as sporting 16GB of 1600MHz DD3 RAM, 750GB of hard disk drive space, and an AMD Radeon HD 7770M graphics processor. It would also feature a FaceTime HD camera, Thunderbolt port, Bluetooth 4.0, an SDXC card slot, FireWire, and Ethernet port.

Last month, Bloomberg reported that Apple was planning to unveil new MacBooks at its Worldwide Developers Conference next week. That followed a similar story from a host of other publications, including 9to5Mac, which have cited sources saying the same.

Predictably, Apple is being tight-lipped on its plans for WWDC and its MacBook Line. However, CNET has contacted Apple for comment and will update this post when we learn more.
