Watch this: Kevin McCloud on making tech work in a Grand Design

Kevin McCloud isn't just a TV host. He knows what he's talking about. An accomplished designer himself, his TV series, Grand Designs (on ABC), has aired since 1999 and after 11 seasons he has seen many impressive adventures in truly inspiring design.

But what about the technology? Apart from occasional mentions for interesting materials, there is little discussion of where a tech-loving home owner might put their big screen TV. Or how smart home features might blend into a classic design. What about the geeks?

Kevin gave CNET Australia a few minutes at the recent Grand Designs Australia Live exhibition in Sydney's Darling Harbour, where we got answers to a few burning questions on making technology a good friend to a great home.
