Speaking to one of Apple's core group of users, chief executive Steve Jobs demonstrated Mac OS X at the Seybold Seminars trade show in San Francisco today.

Enhancements to the Mac operating system include a user interface code-named "Aqua" that has a "watery" look, as well as numerous graphics additions and expanded crash-proofing features.

Jobs said a public beta will be released next month, with a final version for sale by next year.
