IronPort Systems announced Wednesday that it plans to acquire e-mail encryption company PostX. The deal, expected to close within eight weeks, should allow IronPort to tightly integrate the PostX encryption into its own Internet gateway security appliances.

San Bruno, Calif.-based IronPort will continue to offer PostX-branded products, such as the PostX Secure Envelope. PostX's technology is designed to work with any application used to access e-mail and does not require additional software for the sender and receiver. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
