Interplay to sell development studio

Struggling games publisher Interplay Entertainment announced this week that it is negotiating the sale of its Shiny Entertainment development studio. The prospective buyer and terms of sale were not disclosed. Shiny is currently at work on an Xbox game based on the movie "The Matrix," for which Interplay received a $5 million advance from Microsoft. Interplay has posted growing losses in the past year and received a delisting notice from the Nasdaq exchange a few months ago.
