Many U.S. senators have pledged not to use Web tracking technology on their official home pages. But at least 23 do anyway, a CNET News.com investigation has found.

The following table includes a list of all the members of Congress, and the legislative committees, that employ tracking cookies. Such usage is banned for executive branch agencies but permitted for the legislative branch.

The columns to the right can be sorted by clicking on any one of the six headings. The heading titled "Pledge," indicates whether that politician pledged to abstain from using cookies. (Note that the case of Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid is unusual because one of his privacy policies is silent but the other contains a no-cookie pledge.)

Mouse over a state abbreviation to highlight Congressional members from that state, or mouse over the list of members to highlight the state they represent.
