HP settles patent case
Hewlett-Packard announced on Thursday it has settled a patent infringement case with PrinterEssential.com over inkjet cartridges used in HP printers. HP had contended PrinterEssentials was infringing on HP patents by importing and selling cartridges manufactured by Taiwan's Microjet as replacement cartridges for HP printers. HP's case was filed with the U.S. International Trade Commission. According to HP, Reno, Nev.-based PrinterEssentials has agreed to stop importing and selling the cartridges as part of the settlement. PrinterEssentials has also acknowledged that the Microjet cartridges infringe on HP's patents, HP said. A U.S. International Trade Commission investigation of Microjet continues, HP said.
