When you're a famous author like George R.R. Martin, everyone wants to ask a million questions about your books. But how often does an author's memory and knowledge of his own characters get tested?
That's exactly what happened Tuesday on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" when Martin was promoting his new book, "The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones."
On the talk show, Martin was quizzed by Meyers and comedic actress Amy Poehler.
Poehler and Meyers each read lines of dialogue and a giggly Martin answered with the name of the character who said it. As the quiz progressed, Poehler suddenly read with a posh British accent and Meyers yelled a few profanities.
It didn't get complicated until the dialog in question was simply one word, or a well-known phrase such as "Winter is coming."
"Those are the words from House Stark; half of the people in the book say that," Martin responded.
Of course, the quiz quickly turned humorous, but that made Martin giggle even more.
