How to remove lock screen notifications on OS X Mavericks
OS X Mavericks will now display app notifications on your lock screen by default. For added privacy, you might want to disable them.
The idea of having lock screen notifications from apps you use on your Mac sounds good in theory. Then, the first time you come back to your Mac and find a long list of notifications on your lock screen, notifications you either don't want others to see or have already viewed on another device, it can be a bit annoying.
You can change the default setting of pushing alerts to your lock screen on an app-by-app basis.
In order to disable the intrusive notifications, you'll need to launch System Preferences and select the Notifications option. Alternatively, you can click on the Settings gear icon when viewing Notification Center. The icon is located in the bottom-right corner.
Once you're viewing the various apps you receive notifications for, you can select each one you'd like to remove from your lock screen. Along with the typical settings that've come with OS X since Notification Center was introduced, you'll also find a new checkbox for lock screen notifications.
Unchecking the box is all it takes to remove an app's notifications, keeping them behind the lock screen and private. Of course, if you change your mind and would like to have an app's notifications back on the lock screen, simply revisit the Notification Settings pane and check the little box.
