How to erase your Google Maps search history

Google Maps is a superconvenient tool for locating, getting directions to, and curiously exploring places around the world. Enter an address and soon the cross-streets and other local venues can be seen with just a few clicks. However, if you've done a lot of exploring on Google Maps, chances are your search history is relatively large. Having so many locations in the history can be cumbersome when entering new addresses or when simply trying to protect your privacy. Follow the steps below to clear out your Google Maps search history.

Step 1: Head to Google Maps http://maps.google.com and sign in, if needed, using the link in the top right corner.

Step 2: In the search box, click on the gray arrow on the right-hand side.

Step 3: In the pop-up, click Edit near the bottom.

4. Check the boxes next to the entries you would like to remove from your Maps search history.

Step 5: Click Remove at the top.

Alternatively, you can clear all the search results with the Clear entire Web history link at the top. Keep in mind that this will delete all the places you search most often, and thus render autocomplete unhelpful, which may make using Google Maps more time-consuming.
