Group expands USB standard

An industry group announced on Tuesday the release of a supplement to the USB standard that will enable devices to communicate directly with one other without the intervention of a PC. USB On-the-Go could allow an MP3 player to directly transfer music files to another player or allow a digital camera to link directly to a printer, according to the Universal Serial Bus Implementers Forum, an industry group formed to advance the USB standard for connecting PC peripherals and electronics devices.
