Survey specialists Roy Morgan have rolled out some new data suggesting that, in terms of subscribers, Netflix is smashing its nearest rivals ten to one. But just how accurate are these figures and is it too early to call a winner when it comes to streaming video on demand in Australia?
We knew that it was coming, but somehow it still seems like a shock that the site blocking laws passed into legislation. There's a still a lot of confusion about them, but finally Aussie content creators, rights holders and distributors will no longer have to cower under the tyrannical yoke of online piracy.
Although if you're an Australian content creator who works in the video game industry you might not be feeling such governmental love. In fact, Greens Senator Scott Ludlam has announced a senate inquiry into the local games industry in the wake of the scrapped AU$20 million Australian Interactive Games Fund, which was closed just 12 months after its inception. Given Ludlam's interest in and care for the Aussie tech workers, this should make for some popcorn-worthy moments in the Upper House.
