Social networking site Facebook has rolled out new feature that might not boil over too well with its members. It's a del.icio.us-style social bookmarking feature that allows members to showcase links, pictures, videos, and other media on their profiles (under a "My Shares" category) and send them to their friends.

There's a chance that it just won't catch on. Facebook, which started as an online replacement for the paper "facebooks" handed out by colleges at the start of freshman year, doesn't have the most tech-savvy user base out there. Unlike with MySpace, there's no optional HTML tinkering involved. And the "Notes" feature, a relatively recent addition that lets you write blog posts and hook it up to an external blog's RSS feed, doesn't seem to have caught on as quickly as founder Mark Zuckerberg and his team had hoped.

But if "sharing" does gain a following among Facebook users, the response won't necessarily be positive. With a user base that still largely consists of college students, it won't be long before members start sharing potentially copyrighted material (hello, lawsuits!) and potentially gross porn (hello, angry members!)
