Storage software leader EMC on Monday announced upgrades to storage management software aimed to provide greater compatibility with other gear and simpler storage administration. The updates to ControlCenter include the ability to monitor the health and utilization of additional Hitachi, Hewlett-Packard and IBM storage disk arrays.

The update offers new performance monitoring and reporting for Hitachi arrays, EMC added. The company also said ControlCenter now offers support for server computers running Linux and is more tightly integrated with systems management software from companies including Computer Associates International and IBM. EMC was the top seller of storage software in the first quarter, according to IDC.

"We're very excited that the new ControlCenter will allow us to manage our (EMC) Symmetrix, Clariion, Centera, and HP XP512 from a single interface," said Matthias Link, information technology systems administrator for T-Com, a Deutsche Telekom division.
