EDS inks IT deal worth $350 million

Electronic Data Systems signed an agreement worth about $350 million to manage internal computer operations for DecisionOne. Under the 10-year contract, Plano, Texas-based EDS, which provides clients with professional services and help with systems integration, said it will offer DecisionOne mainframe, midrange and desktop-computing management, application development and maintenance. The deal also calls for EDS to provide voice and data communication services for Frazer, Pa.-based DecisionOne, a company that offers customers PC support. Additionally, DecisionOne said that with EDS' help, it intends to complete the transition from its current mainframe system to one that is Internet-based, by year-end.
