Fan favorite Clark Gregg, who played Agent Coulson in the Avengers movies and leads the spinoff " Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," is known for his air of likability and friendly banter on Twitter. And if he's not, he should be. Today he took to Reddit to answer questions in an Ask Me Anything session.

Though the aim was to draw attention to his movie, "Trust Me," which is opening tomorrow, Gregg cheerfully answered a number of questions about superheroes, the "Agents" TV show, his role on "West Wing," and his favorite book.

Gregg makes clear that he's a comics fan himself. Asked if he'd realized what an important character Coulson would turn out to be, he admits, "If I thought that, they probably would have taken me away in a straightjacket." But it was worth it: "The day that Marvel sent me a comic book with a slightly handsomer version of my face in it was one of my many near-deaths from Nerd Heart Attack."

For intriguing Kree-related speculation or to get the latest in the on-set "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." prank war (NSFW), go, read, now! He even gives his perspective as "a member of a Jewish family" and "a sober alcoholic" on what was it like working with Mel Gibson. No one's as sincere as Phil Coulson, but it's easy to believe Clark Gregg is being frank.
