Salton's bread maker recognizes the bar codes of more than 100 cake and bread mixes. When connected to Salton's home hub, the bread maker can access an information network that offers additional recipes.

Like other appliances in Salton's Beyond line, the coffee maker can be networked through a home hub. That means you can have the system remind you to set up your morning coffee before heading to bed.

Like Salton's new bread maker, the Beyond Microwave can store recipes and read bar codes--only it can store a greater number (4,000). It also has a "learn" function that lets users create and store directions to go with new bar codes.

The Icebox is much like an entertainment PC, with a few added features for ease of use in the kitchen. Among them: a keyboard that can be washed in the sink and a touch-screen monitor that can be wiped off with a sponge.
