A quick update from your podcast a few weeks back regarding Fei “”Phil”" Lam who was selling the white iphone kits. I immediately went to the site http://www.whiteiphone4now.com/ (which is now down) and order a kit. I got the kit 2 days ago and via youtube, watch the video on iphone 4 take apart. I am now the owner of a White iphone 4. I have to say the best thing about having a white iphone is the women thinks it is super cool!

So, I think I have a possible missed connection success story, Brian. Even though I think the virtual bulletin board you talked about yesterday was kind of weak, there is this girl… her name’s Molly; I think you know her. Even though we’ve never met, I’ve seen her around and listened to her speak, and it turns out I have some weird things in common with her:

I agree that Zelda, the creepy sister from Pet Sematary was totally the scariest character ever portrayed on film

I also have an Apple aversion and use a Samsung Epic, even though I bought an iPad

I was at one time a multimedia journalist (if you consider trading awesome Minidisc mixtapes as much)

The list continues, all I’m sayin is, we have “”cajones”" in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Thing 1: Rovio’s Angry Birds Seasons is really an upgrade to Angry Birds Halloween, so if you already bought that, they just gave you a free Christmas present!

Thing 2: I met my partner through the neighborhood paper’s version of missed connections. It’s now 12 years later, and we’re married. So yeah…sometimes it works!

Hey Buzz crew,

In response to your call for missed connections, I figured I would offer up a story about a college buddy of mine. Every year Madison Wisconson holds the biggest Holloween party of the year. Some friends were going and this guy decided to dress as Mathew Lesko. He has the questionmark suit and slicked back hair. He also played the character to a T all night. Needless to say, it was memorable.

About a week later back at Michigan Tech, we decided to look at Craigs List missed connections for the madison weekend. Sure enough there was a post searching for Mathew Lesko. As a group we helped him respond, in character. After that they kept in touch, email, facebook and such. As I understand, he never broke character for several weeks.

Eventually they decided to meet up. When he went to meet her, he saw her from a distance and had an emergency change of heart and walked right back out. We assume she didnt notice him because he wasnt in costume. Shortly afterward he unfriended her and that was the last we heard.

That being said, I must agree with Brian, missed connections are doomed to failure, are at least an awkward chickening out.

In Buzz Out Loud episode 1362 you mentioned that men do not take the initiative, risk rejection, & romantically approach you. Molly you are a rich & educated woman. Because of this the "onus" is on you to risk rejection & find a man. Women have demanded equal rights, but with equal rights come equal responsibility. Women have to share more in initiating romantic relationships & risking personal rejection.

When you say that you want a man to romantically approach you I am sure that you do not mean just any man. You mean a particular man. I thoughtfully request that you smile, touch him, & break the touch barrier. Most men will understand that you are interested. Women with the same level of beauty & social standing as men have more people romantically interested in them than men. So it helps to remember that women choose; men pick. As a woman you have to first choose a man by perhaps smiling at him & being first to break the touch barrier. The ball is then in the man's court to pick you. A man's power to pick is useless until a woman chooses him first. Please remember that it is hard for a man to have confidence to approach a woman until he has stacked his paper, "Money"; has a nice pad, "an entertaining private residence"; & owns whip, "a clean reliable automobile." Finally as a rule with exception women do not marry down educationally or monetarily.
