Hey Buzz Crew, and more importantly Rafe;

In regards to Android battery life, yes, there are some issues that everyone would like to see operate better. But, most android phones are customizable sandboxes and the produces/carriers of the phones want the phones to run at full speed all the time. The reality is; you don’t need to have your phone run at full speed non-stop.

With my HTC EVO, i can get a full day battery (24 hours) without having to install a customized hack. Just turn off your mobile network unless you need to be on it. (For the EVO, hold down on the screen until the “Add to Home” section appears, then select “Widget”, then select “Settings” then select “Mobile Network”. Turning off your mobile internet prevents your phone from consistently searching for or syncing with a 3g signal. You still will receive every text message, phone call and picture message. You just will not be able to connect to websites unless you turn the mobile network on. You can install a simple widget on the home screen to toggle this setting on or off.

When I am at work, I will have my mobile internet off when I’m in the office and instead I’ll have my Wi-fi on. I still receive emails and sync consistently but I’m not tirelessly searching for a 3g signal. Wi-fi signal is not only faster than 3g but it requires less battery power.

Hi Buzz Out Loud Team,

During show 1320, Rafe and Donald speculated about how a head of beer would form a sphere of beer in micro gravity. Here is how I imagine it.

Gravity is what drives the carbon dioxide bubbles to the top of a glass of beer. In microgravity, the CO2 escaping from the beer solution expands in all directions. The beer sphere would become ball of foam expanding with great velocity. In short, a beer explosion (think Mentos and diet cola in space).

In my younger years, I used to dream about swimming in beer. However, this could be problematic is space. I, for one, am thankful for the tireless scientists working on space libation safety.

Thanks for the show,
