Armada prices slashed
Compaq cuts the cost of its Armada notebooks to as low as $1,299. That easily makes it one the least-expensive Pentium notebook PCs on the market.
This makes the Armada 1120 easily one of the least expensive Pentium notebook PCs on the market. Comparable notebooks from companies such as Toshiba and IBM are priced from $1,500 to $2,000.
The Armada 1120 and 1120T have a 100-MHz Pentium processor, 8MB of RAM and 810 MB hard drives. For the 1120, which has a 10.4-inch dual scan display, the price was dropped from $1,499 to $1,299, a decrease of 13 percent. The 1120T, which has an active matrix screen, saw a price drop from $1,999 to $1,799, a decrease of 10 percent.
Furthermore, Compaq says that the Armada 1120 and 1120T models will be bundled with a 28.8-bps data/fax modem while supplies last. The price cut is the second for the Armada 1120s in three months.
Compaq cut prices on the Armada 1130 models as well. The 1130 and 1130T have a 120-MHz Pentium, 16MB of EDO RAM and a 1GB hard disk drive. The 1130, which has a 10.4-inch dual scan display, had its price dropped from $1,899 to $1,599, a reduction of 16 percent. The 1130T, which has an active matrix screen, had its price dropped from $2,299 to $1,999, a reduction of 13 percent.
All prices are estimated street prices and the reductions are effective immediately.
