Amazon CEO sells 2.95 million shares
Jeff Bezos, chief executive of Amazon.com, has sold 2.95 million shares of Amazon stock he registered to sell last month, Amazon spokesman Bill Curry said Thursday. The sale garnered Bezos more than $40 million. Bezos filed to sell the shares in February. Before that, Bezos filed to sell 800,000 shares in November, 300,000 shares in August, and 300,000 shares last May, Curry said. The company has said that Bezos' sales are part of a plan adopted early last year that commits him to selling stock at fixed intervals. Under the plan, Bezos is allowed to set parameters for the number of shares to be sold. At this point, he has sold 5 percent of his holdings in Amazon, Curry said.
