Accenture said on Thursday that William D. Green will become its chief executive officer on Sept. 1. Green, who is currently the chief operating officer for client services at the technology services company, will succeed Joe Forehand. Forehand will retain the position of chairman. "In his 26-year career with Accenture, Bill has distinguished himself as a true leader whose knowledge of our business, tireless work ethic, commitment to our people and their development, and demonstrated ability to forge major client relationships make him the clear choice for CEO," Forehand said in a statement. Green has particular expertise in the high tech, aerospace and telecommunications industries, and was the group chief executive of Accenture's Communications & High Tech operating group from 1999 to 2003, the company said.

Accenture is in some ways at the heart of the debate over so-called offshoring. The company's headquarters are located in Bermuda, and last year it said it would double its staff in India to 10,000.
