ABC digital radio covering Qld floods
To provide a local perspective on the devastating floods currently affecting much of the state, ABC local radio in Queensland is now broadcasting live on digital radio and nationally online.
One of the advantages of digital radio is the ability it affords broadcasters to customise content to specific events and audiences. The ABC has been most proactive in this regard, previously offering specific channels to commemorate ANZAC Day, the anniversary of East Timor's independence and the Melbourne International Arts Festival among others.
Today, it has put this capability to good use in an emergency situation. To provide a local perspective on the devastating floods currently affecting much of the state, ABC local radio in Queensland is now broadcasting live on digital radio and nationally online.
The broadcast will include 24-hour rolling coverage of the unfolding events in Brisbane, the crisis in Toowoomba and the Lockyer Valley, plus the recovery efforts underway across all affected areas.
