How to see what apps your friends are using on iOS
Find yourself constantly asking your friends to recommend some new apps for you to try? Sign up for Crosswalk and never ask them again!
If you're constantly looking for new apps to try by pestering your friends for recommendations or scouring the App Store for the newest releases, you can stop now.
Back in November Rafe introduced us to Crosswalk, an app discovery Web site that scanned your iCloud account for the apps you have downloaded from the App Store, then compared them to your friends' apps. In the end, you were able to see what apps your friends have that you don't.
Earlier this month, Crosswalk released an iPhone app that allowed you to discover apps on the go.
After you download and installed Crosswalk on your iPhone, you will need to create an account and allow the service to access your iCloud account history to compile a list of apps you have downloaded. If there are some apps you would rather not share with your friends, you can always hide them on the Web site under Profile > Edit User Settings > Privacy.
Once you have an account set up, you can begin following other Crosswalk users to see what apps they're using or have checked out recently. Likewise, your friends and fellow Crosswalk users will be able to follow you and keep tabs on your app selection.
You will also start to receive push alerts on your iPhone of apps that go on sale (paid-to-free alerts are the best), or what apps are trending by community, category or keyword.
The Web site is effective at giving recommendations, but the ease of use and availability of app discovery on the go can't be matched.
