Symantec in December will release versions of its security products for corporate users that work with Microsoft's new Windows Vista operating system, it said Wednesday. Vista is slated to be available to business customers later this month. Microsoft has scheduled a launch event on Nov. 30 in New York.

AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.2 will be available for both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista, but will run in a limited capacity on the 64-bit version, Symantec spokesman Brian Modena said. That's due to PatchGuard, a Microsoft security feature, he said. It inhibits the behavior-blocking and tamperproof prevention functionality in Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition, he said. Following pressure from European regulators, Microsoft has pledged to work with security companies on PatchGuard.
