TiVo puts new box into more stores

TiVo announced on Thursday that store chains Good Guys and Abt Electronics will join Best Buy as retailers of TiVo's Series2 digital video recorders. The new chains should begin selling Series2 recorders before the holidays. Best Buy has been the exclusive retailer of the Series2 since the second-generation set-top boxes launched in mid-April. The company is looking to add retail partners in the coming weeks, according to a company statement.

TiVo maintains a service for devices that lets subscribers program their DVRs to record their shows, "pause" live broadcasts and resume play without missing any broadcast material. They can also fast-forward to catch up with the live feed. There were over 422,000 subscribers to TiVo's service as of April 30.
