Microsoft recently published a long list of software programs that have been awarded a Microsoft logo to indicate that they work with Windows Vista. Surprisingly, Trend Micro is the only major security software maker on the list!

However, this doesn't mean that Trend Micro's chief rivals Symantec and McAfee don't have Vista-compatible products. In fact, they do. Both companies advertise Vista compatibility on news releases and on their Web sites.

Microsoft's 21-page list is merely a list of products whose makers have submitted them early to Microsoft for the "Certified for Windows Vista" or "Works with Windows Vista" logo. The list is current as of February 19.

Obtaining a logo requires some work. Microsoft details the steps on a Web site for partners. The "Certified for Windows Vista" is hardest to get and means full compatibility, while the "works with" logo only indicates basic compatibility.
