SNL holds hilarious celeb auditions for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

Actors Jon Hamm, Emma Stone, singer Michael Bublé and the "Saturday Night Live" cast audition with Star Wars actors Daisy Ridley and John Boyega for their spot in "The Force Awakens."

With less than a month before "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" debuts in theaters worldwide, US sketch comedy TV show "Saturday Night Live" aired its version of the Star Wars screen tests Saturday, complete with a few surprise guests.

Director J.J. Abrams himself introduces a video of outtakes featuring various celebrities -- many that are actually impressions of celebrities by SNL cast members -- doing their best to win a role in the next Star Wars film.

Real "Force Awakens" actors Daisy Ridley and John Boyega get in on the act as well with entertaining results, although Boyega laughing when he first reads there will be a black Stormtrooper seems to hit a bit too close to home, especially since there's almost no laughter from the audience.

Members of the "Saturday Night Live" cast do their best impressions of celebrities "Modern Family" star Sofía Vergara, pro basketball player Shaquille O'Neal dressed as Chewbacca, actor Javier Bardem, singer John Mayer, singer Wynonna Judd, Chris Tucker (reprising his "Fifth Element" role), pro soccer player David Beckham (abusing BB-8 just as you'd expect he would), actor Danny DeVito (rolling into a ball to audition for BB-8) and George Lucas (who fails to use a Jedi Mind Trick to get a Coke Zero).

Even the SNL cast member playing Dame Maggie Smith while dressed as a Stormtrooper seems spot on, especially since the real Maggie Smith was recently spotted waving a lightsaber in the YouTube charity video "Downton Wars: Episode 2 - The Evil Butler Strikes Back."

Just call actor Jon Hamm "Hamm Solo" from now on, thanks to this new SNL Star Wars sketch.

Real actors not in the film audition as well. Emma Stone, dressed as Rey, says in the video, "I know the Star Wars universe is very diverse, and I don't know if you saw the movie 'Aloha,' but I can play a very convincing part-Asian woman."

Ridley and the real-life crooner Michael Bublé audition together to test any love chemistry between them. He even sings his own "Star Wars" theme song (to the tune of "Makin' Whoopee") complete with the lyrics "Another season, another reason, for makin' Wookiee."

But by far, the best part of the sketch is actor Jon Hamm dressed a Han Solo. "I kind of wrote some of my own stuff," Hamm says in the video. "You have the first line, it's 'What's up, Hamm Solo?' and I'm like 'How's it goin', guys?'"

This isn't the first time SNL has done a skit about Star Wars auditions. In fact, their sketch featuring Kevin Spacey playing Christopher Walken auditioning for Han Solo is the stuff of legend.

SNL also spoofed "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" last year when the TV show made a parody mocking our favorite older heroes.

The real "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will debut in theaters starting December 17 in the UK and Australia, then December 18 in the US.
