Short Take: Intel adds security software to DSL modems
Intel announced it will begin including security software with its digital subscriber line (DSL) modems to help provide protection against security risks associated with an "always on" broadband Internet connection. Under a licensing agreement with security software firm Network ICE, Intel will package the company's intrusion detection and personal firewall software with its new PRO/DSL 3100 Modem and future Intel products. The software helps DSL customers monitor, block and trace unauthorized attempts by outsiders to gain access to their computers.
