Short Take: Cell phone to be added to Palm V

Palm and RealVision plan to add a Web-enabled cell phone to the Palm V and Vx in Europe and Asia in early 2001. The snap-on product will provide Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) connectivity to the handheld computer, and an earphone jack will allow people to use the handheld computer as a phone. It will cost $299 when purchased with a one-year wireless service plan. The snap-on will also enable Web surfing and short messaging.
