Update (6:38 p.m.): The answer to today's challenge is Crowheart Butte, near Crowheart, Wyo.
CASPER, Wyo.--Over the course of the four-plus weeks that I've been driving around states like Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Montana, I've seen some of the most beautiful landscapes America has to offer.
They've included great grasslands, huge mountains, epic valleys, world-class canyons, terrific waterfalls, lush rivers, and much, much more. To me, in addition to getting to visit and learn about some of the country's most interesting destinations, driving through these beautiful regions is what Road Trip 2009 has been all about.
It's also about taking thousands of pictures and picking out a few to test you with in the Road Trip Picture of the day challenge. Every day, I think I've finally found one to stump you with, and every day someone has the answer in under half an hour. But I think maybe today's will be a little bit harder. Why? I just have a feeling. On the other hand, as I said, that feeling has been wrong each time.
So, your task is to look at this picture, and tell me what it is, and where it's located. If you're the first person to email me the answer (to daniel--dot--terdiman--at--cnet--dot--com) you'll win a prize. No repeat winners, though, I'm afraid.
Good luck.
For the next week, Geek Gestalt will be on Road Trip 2009. After driving more than 12,000 miles in the Pacific Northwest, the Southwest and the Southeast over the last three years, I'll be writing about and photographing the best in technology, science, military, nature, aviation, and more in Wyoming and Colorado. If you have a suggestion for someplace to visit, drop me a line. And in the meantime, join the Road Trip 2009 Facebook page and follow my Twitter feed.
