Ninjas make everything more mysterious and exciting -- especially Lego! In this first look at the new set from the brickmaker's ninja-themed Ninjago line, we see the Temple of Airjitzu, the blacksmith's workshop and the Smugglers' Market connected with a bridge with two stone dragons on either side.
The Temple itself features windows with new Asian-style decoration and sliding doors, a ninja training room with weapon holders, ninja swords, a ninja bow and a practice target, Wu's study with books and art, and an attic.
The coolest part of the Temple has to be the shadow theater. It comes with its own light brick and spinning elements, which promises to look amazing when lit up in the dark.
Lego is one of the world's largest toy companies, with $4.2 billion in sales -- and a smash hit movie -- in 2014. Its rapid growth in recent years has been fuelled by canny tie-ins with the likes of "Star Wars" and Marvel, but the company also makes its own media. Ninjago has the "Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu" TV series from Cartoon Network and a movie coming in 2017.
The Airjitzu set has bags of detail. The Smugglers' Market has a curved Asian-style roof, golden details, hidden treasure chests filled with golden weapons, two Ninjago trading cards in a sack, and two fish in a barrel. The blacksmith's workshop, meanwhile, has wooden-frame-style walls, an upper floor with a ninja glider relic with detachable spears, and a rat in the attic.
The new set also includes 12 minifigures of Ninjago characters Lloyd, Kai, Jay, Zane, Cole, Nya, Wu, Misako, Dareth, Postman, Jesper and Claire, who all come with assorted weapons. Misako, Dareth and Postman minifigures are new to the Lego Ninjago sets.
The Temple of Airjitzu Ninjago Lego set has over 2,000 pieces and will sell for $200, £170 and AUS$270 when it hits stores in September.
