Queen Elizabeth II visits 'Game of Thrones,' declines Iron Throne

The Queen arrived in Westeros for a set tour, but didn't seem to take an interest in claiming leadership of the Seven Kingdoms.

Real royalty recently appeared at the Belfast, Ireland, set location for "Game of Thrones." Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip took a tour of the show's sets, including the throne room where the uninviting seat of the Iron Throne sits at attention.

The Queen was escorted by showrunners David Benioff and D. B. Weiss as she got a behind-the-scenes look at everything from costumes to props to the Red Keep. "Game of Thrones" actors lined up in the throne room to meet the monarch, with Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Kit Harington (Jon Snow), Conleth Hill (Lord Varys), Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister), and Rose Leslie (Ygritte) in attendance.

There's no word on whether the Queen actually watches "Game of Thrones," but she chose not to test the comfort level of the Iron Throne, thereby depriving the world of what would surely have been one of the most epic photo ops of all time.

"She kept commenting on how uncomfortable the throne looked, that was funny," Williams told the Belfast Telegraph. The Queen didn't leave King's Landing without a souvenir. She was given a miniature version of the Iron Throne to take home to her real palace. Unfortunately, it's too small for her corgis to fit into.

Fans of the British royals can watch the entire visit as it was captured by Sky News right here:
