Princess Leia street-harassed by 'Star Wars' characters

Cat-calling is a problem in any galaxy. Princess Leia ignores rude Jawas, Stormtroopers, Jedi masters, bounty hunters, Lando Calrissian, Lobot and even Indiana Jones while walking silently in the Big Apple.

The recent disturbing viral video of a woman trying to ignore endless cat-calling while walking around New York City hopefully opened people's eyes to the very real problem of street harassment. The viral video has, however, been criticized for editing out white men, leaving only Hispanics and African Americans.

So Josh Apter and Gary Mahmoud of the comedy group Are We There Yet decided to see what would happen if the sassiest gal in the galaxy -- Princess Leia -- walked around the Big Apple.

Using an iPad Mini and the Padcaster to film the video "10 Hours of Princess Leia Walking in NYC" we see what happens when Princess Leia (played by Michele McNally) wears her signature white dress and her hair in buns, as she silently walks through Manhattan.

When she encounters the usual "Star Wars" characters, their well-known lines of dialog seem downright salacious when yelled at Princess Leia innocently walking by.

Jawas yelling "Utinni" is one thing, but Yoda sitting on a sidewalk stoop while saying "Judge me by my size, do you?" is creepy.

Poor Lando Calrissian thinks that line works every time. Video screenshot by Bonnie Burton/CNET

Lando Calrissian's Cloud City greeting of "Hello, what have we here?" now has a more sinister tone. Han Solo's line "Hey, your worship, I'm only trying to help," doesn't sound as flirtatious when it's said on the city streets. Her own brother Luke Skywalker harasses her, and Obi-Wan isn't much help either.

Boba Fett (who doesn't speak much in the original trilogy) keeps to character and only silently walks alongside Princess Leia as she ignores him. Darth Vader revealing that he's her father looks like a man who's hoping for a girl with daddy issues.

Even Indiana Jones tries to get in on the action.

At least Chewbacca, R2-D2 and C-3PO have manners. Leave it to Wookiees and droids to always be respectful towards women.
