Microsoft this week acknowledged it was working on dubbed Live Drive.

The new service would allow consumers to store diverse data from movies and music to tax records and documents, accessible via the Internet. The move mirrors a project Google has reportedly been working on, called "GDrive," reports of which .

The two companies have increasingly been stepping on each other's turf, and this move is just the latest in a line of competitive offerings. Whether consumers will trust either company with all of their personal data is, of course, another matter.
