Batman drives a Jeep (says Jeep)

Technically Incorrect: An ad for the Jeep Renegade shows Ben Affleck's Batman driving it. Oh.

Technically Incorrect offers a slightly twisted take on the tech that's taken over our lives.

A vital part of the superhero essence is, to my less than heroic mind, the "super" part.

I expect superheroes to have superpowers. I expect them to have super lovers. I also expect them to drive, if they feel the need to do something as archaic as driving, supercars.

Suddenly I'm being told, in a new Jeep ad, that Batman drives a Jeep.

Oh, of course it's a special Jeep, you'll mutter. It depends whether you find a Jeep Renegade that's been blacked-out special.

But this is Batman, he of the astonishing Batmobile. This is Batman, who has a certain look and feel to maintain. This is Ben Affleck, for goodness sake.

No matter. When Fiat Chrysler, the parent company of Jeep, decides to support a big movie, it finds some way to squeeze its car into the promotions.

In this case the movie is "Dawn of Justice: Batman vs Superman." This follows on from Fiat Chrysler's incursions into "The Hunger Games" and "Star Wars."

You'll surely remember that Darth Vader is actually a Dodge Viper.

Here we have Affleck driving his Jeep Renegade through an awful lot of Gothamic devastation.

Meanwhile a voice tells you that "there's a dangerous instinct that lives within you." This is because "you like chaos."

I expected the next line to be "so you'll be voting for Donald Trump," but no.

Your love for chaos apparently means that you're going to rush in when everyone else runs away.

Perhaps, in the depths of Jeep's marketing department this is what's known as a call to action. You chaos-lovers are going to rush into your local Jeep dealerships, and Jeep will make a lot of money.

I'm not entirely convinced that Bruce Wayne would be quite so moved.

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be released on March 24, 2016, in Australia and March 25, 2016, in the UK and US.
