Indy has never been so cute...or cubed: the 'LEGO Indiana Jones' game

The 'LEGO Indiana Jones' game is announced.

Unlike a lot of my colleagues here at CNET Networks, I'm not a gamer. My tactics in hand-to-hand combat games entail less adroit maneuvering using precise button combinations and more random mashing of various buttons in the faint hope that if I mash fast enough, I'll accidentally stumble across some winning combination that I can never hope to recreate. And my skills in driving games may leave you concerned about my actual, real-life driving skills. (Don't worry, I know not to mow down unsuspecting pedestrians. Usually.) So it's a little odd that I'm here writing about a game. But here's the thing: it's really freaking cute. (Yes, that sums up my criteria for games. Go ahead and mock.)

Lucas Art/TT Games

Lucas Arts and TT Games--the geniuses behind the LEGO Star Wars games--are back again, with that snake-fearin', whip-crackin' adventurer, Indiana Jones. Okay, did you get that? Indiana Jones...made of LEGOs. So awesome. His little LEGO face is stubbly, he's got a tiny LEGO fedora, and he cracks a plasticky-looking LEGO whip, and no doubt, he'll have attitude to spare. What's not to love? Like the LEGO Star Wars games, LEGO Indiana Jones combines the three original movies (Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, and Last Crusade) into one adventure.

So far, platform support hasn't been announced, but the game is scheduled for release in the summer of 2008. Information from the Lucas Arts site is sparse (no screenshots yet), but you can get more info at GameSpot and watch a trailer which includes the hilariously rendered boulder scene from Raiders. I can't wait to get my mashy fingers on this one!
