How to upload documents, e-books to Google Play Books

Take your own PDFs and e-books with you anywhere using Google Play Books.

Mixed in with all of the announcements and releases from Google I/O earlier this week, the Google Play Books service received an important update. Google Play Books users can now upload personal PDFs and e-books they currently own to the service.

To upload a document to the service, you can visit Play.Google.com and click on the My Books section heading, or you can go to the My Books section directly by using this link.

You will see a new "Uploads" option on the left-hand side; when you click on it you'll be prompted to either upload documents from your computer, or add them from your Drive account.

Each upload is capped at 50MB, and 1,000 EPUB or PDF files in total can be stored.

After uploading a document to Google Play Books you can access it from any computer or using the Android and iOS apps. But before you can see the documents, you'll need to ensure that you're using the latest version of the respective apps, which can be found in the Play Store or App Store.

Any reading you do on one device will automatically sync with the service, allowing you to pick up where you left off on another device. You can also download and store any of your documents on your iOS or Android device by tapping on the pin icon (Android) or download button (iOS).
