Gingerbread Millennium Falcon looks pretty Chewie
A 100 percent edible Millennium Falcon takes on all-comers in a Canadian gingerbread contest that makes traditional gingerbread houses look like slums.
While Americans are all trying to blow out their electrical circuits with insane light displays, Canadians are busy creating elaborate edible gingerbread structures. A gingerbread "Star Wars" Millennium Falcon is blowing away the competition in Canada's National Gingerbread Showcase 2012.
The insanely elaborate creation comes from the Canoe Brewpub in Victoria, B.C. The spaceship appears to have landed on Hoth, judging by the presence of tons of shredded coconut snow and a Wampa. Chewbecca also lounges near the ship.
The Falcon is up against some stiff edible competition. There's a representation of a curling match, a pirate ship, and the witch's house from Hansel and Gretel, among others. Maybe it's no wonder the Millennium Falcon has gathered the most Facebook votes.
You have until January 1 to get your vote in. The entries are on display at the Inn at Laurel Point in Victoria. The maker of the gingerbread creation with the most Facebook "Likes" gets treated to brunch at a waterfront restaurant, where I'm sure Canadian bacon will be on the menu.
