Giant Gundam robot will soon depart Tokyo mall

The 59-foot-tall mockup is set to leave Tokyo's DiverCity by the spring, according to a report.

It's never easy being the bearer of bad news, but that amazing and incredibly awesome giant Gundam robot won't be standing guard over Tokyo forever.

The massive mockup, which measures a staggering 59 feet tall, will stride off into the sunset within a few short months, Japan's ITmedia reported this week.

This doesn't mean the installation, inspired by the beloved 1979 Japanese anime series, will necessarily disappear forever. RocketNews reported that the huge structure may find another home in Japan. Either way, if you happen to be in the neighborhood, best make a stop at the DiverCity mall in Tokyo before spring.
