If you want a dirty job done, send in the supervillains! In this newly released footage, meet the ruthless, mentally unhinged members of Task Force X, otherwise known as the "Suicide Squad."

Recruited by a government agent with the promise of a clean slate, the squad is expected to succeed in impossibly dangerous missions where the odds aren't ever in their favor. But as we all know -- never underestimate the resourcefulness of a supervillain.

Fans got a closer look at director David Ayer's "Suicide Squad" via this action-packed trailer revealed this weekend at San Diego Comic-Con. (See all CNET's Comic-Con coverage here.)

The trailer shows off an unlikely group of villains -- Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Slipknot (Adam Beach), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Enchantress (Cara Delevingne), Katana (Karen Fukuhara), Rick Flagg (Joel Kinnaman), Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) and Jay Hernandez (El Diablo) -- all banding together to complete and survive deadly missions.

The best part? A tattooed, grill-grinning Joker (Jared Leto) getting ready to do what he does best -- bring on the pain.

"I'm not gonna kill ya," the Joker says in the trailer. "I'm just gonna hurt ya, really, really bad."

We can't wait! "Suicide Squad" hits theaters on August 5, 2016.
