Design your own crazy 'Star Wars' lightsaber
Are the new lightsabers in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" not impressing you? Make your own with Hasbro's Bladebuilders, debuting this fall.
You don't have to consult Apple's chief designer Jony Ive if you want to design the kind of lightsaber that will impress Jedi Masters and Sith Lords alike, thanks to a new set of "Star Wars" Bladebuilders toys coming from Hasbro this fall.
Whether you love or hate the new lightsaber from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," you can now mix and match hilts, blades and other parts to make the ultimate lightsaber for your own pretend battles.
"'Star Wars' is such a magical property and in particular the lightsaber is -- and I think everyone would agree -- the most iconic weapon of all time," Kim Boyd, senior director of the "Star Wars" brand for Hasbro told USA Today. "This is the first time we've given kids the chance to customize [lightsabers] through an entire system."
There are several options to choose from. For instance, the basic Jedi Master Lightsaber set contains a lightsaber with electronic sounds and lights, a pair of lightdaggers, a myriad of connectors and an expansion hilt. It retails for $49.99 (about £33 or AU$64). The Electronic Lightsaber is priced at $19.99 (about £13 or AU$26) and comes in Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi styles.
Slightly lower in price, the Foam Lightsaber retails at $14.99 (about £10 or AU$19) and is available in the weapon styles of Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Yoda. The cheapest model available is the Extend Lightsaber. Pricing in at $9.99 (about £7 or AU$13), the Extend is available in Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker variants.
Get the sets you want, then mix and match blade colors, hilt styles and connectors to make the kind of lightsaber that fans only dream of. Or better yet, build a wacky lightsaber that will spawn a series of geeky debates amongst your friends who still can't figure out how Kylo Ren won't dismember himself with his own blade in the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
