Cuddle Clones makes stuffed replicas of your real pets

Love your pets so much that you want to keep them around forever? Cuddle Clones turns pictures of your furry friends into stuffed animals so you can hug them even when they're gone.

Yep, this might be the cutest thing ever. Cuddle Clones

If you've ever had a pet die, you've probably searched for ways to memorialize and remember him or her. A new service called Cuddle Clones takes pictures of your pet and uses the images to create a stuffed replica so you can hug your dog, cat, rabbit or other animal buddy long after it's gone.

The Louisville, Ky., company encourages you to upload multiple images to give it a more detailed look at your pet. After you submit pictures, the Cuddle Clones service lets you select things like ear and tail position, as well as other distinguishing features, and mails you a plush version of your beloved pet.

Cuddle Clones are for more than just memorializing pets that have passed on, however. As the Cuddle Clones website points out, they're also a great idea for those who've lost a pet to a former partner in a split. Plus, you can bring your stuffed pet with you to work without landing in the HR department if your workplace doesn't allow real pets in the office.

Pricing varies depending on the type of animal you're looking for. The service costs $199 (about £129, AU$255) for dogs, cats, horses and other large pets, and $129 (about £84, AU$166) for small pets like guinea pigs and rabbits. You can expect to add $20 for shipping in the US (international shipping charges vary), and it takes Cuddle Clones about five months (!) to get your order to you. You can speed this up a bit with rush shipping that will get your order to you in 6-7 weeks for $50 (£32, AU$64) more, or in 4-5 weeks for an additional $100 (£65, AU$128).

Some might call Cuddle Clones eerie, but they seem like a pretty decent way to memorialize pets, especially if you have kids who aren't ready to let go of Spot or Fluffy just yet. You can order one at the Cuddle Clones website, and be sure to check out this photo gallery to see how crazy-real these things look.
