CNET UK Podcast 239: Turning back time in 2011

Scientists have invented a way of turning back time, so we've done the same with a look at the best and worst bits of the year so far -- and travelled forward to see what we're looking forward to.

The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and there's a whole load of new gadgets about to be announced. The iPhone 5 may not have surfaced yet, but iCloud, Windows 8 and much more are on the way.

So as we're (sort of) halfway through the year, we decided to pause and smell the technological roses, with a look at the highlights and lowlights of 2011 so far. And of course, we look forward to the gadgets that'll be rocking our socks before the year draws to a close.

It's been a year of Wills 'n' Kate, Lady GaGa and Angry Birds -- and there's been some technology too. The misty-eyed podcast panel chooses the highlights and lowlights of 2011 so far from the shining stars like the iPad 2, Samsung Galaxy S 2 and the Thing-O-Matic, to the crushing despair of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play or the PlayStation Network, O2 and Vodafone debacles. Then we discuss what we're looking forward to in the rest of the year.

Life is full of questions, but fortunately we're here to answer such burning issues as when to expect a new Sony NEX camera, and where exactly Flora and Rory are this week.

We want to know what your highlights, lowlights and personal bests of the year have been -- and what you're most excited about in the coming months. Send us your feedback on our Facebook page, by commenting below, or at twitter.com/CNETUK.

Finally, we put the "where?" in WTF, with the story of a resourceful chap whose laptop was stolen, only to capture photos of the thief and -- what else? -- start a blog about it.
