Holy frozen nipples Batman! LOL I really don’t see the big deal with the increase in price over Netflix! I feel when they first started that it was too cheap to begin with. If I had to I would Happily pay 20-50 dollars for instant streaming. Those who are talking of cancelling because of the price hike I feel are cheap people. You pay for convience! Anyway, LOVE THE SHOW.

Hypnotik in the Chatroom


I drove past yet another shuttered video store on the way to work today, and was thinking grim thoughts about how hard it’s going to be to get less-mainstream DVDs if I go to streaming-only on Netflix. There’s an independent video store downtown, and it’s awesome, but parking and traffic make it a pain. There’s a Blockbuster, which sucks because it’s a Blockbuster, but also because it’s on the wrong side of town. And that’s it except for Redbox. For a town of 100,000 people.

That’s when it hit me! This was the plan all along! Easy and cheap DVDs with a broad and deep catalog. Then streaming, even if their streaming catalog is just the crumbs of the market. Slowly but surely they kill the traditional distribution chain until all that’s left is the online model, then they jack up the price of DVD plans just as people are looking for ways to economize. Suddenly the studios have no way for their midlist and backlist titles to reach an audience. There’s simply no room in a Redbox for that kind of variety. The studios have no choice but to sign over the streaming rights, and Netlix becomes king of the world. Or, at least, can finally get invited to party with Ryan Reynolds.

Sure facebook,com at 9% is three times more typed than google.com at 3.3%, however there were four Google websites mentioned, which total up to 8.3%

0.6% mail.google.com

Facebook still wins but it’s more of a squeaker.

Hey Buzzers,

I know there has been a lot of discussion of the Higgs boson on the show over the years including many references to its common name the god particle. I wasn’t sure however, if the history of that term had ever been discussed. The term came from Nobel-prize winning physicist Leon Lederman in his book: The God Particle: If the Universe Is the Answer, What Is the Question? But according to Peter Higgs (whom the Higgs boson is named after) Lederman was trying to call it the goddamn particle but the books editors wouldn’t allow it. Supposedly he wanted to call it that because the particle was so “”goddamn hard to find.”"
