Well, folks, it's about that time again. That time when we head out into the world to get our hands on today's hottest gadgets and to explore the promising technologies of the future. And, of course, we'll keep an eye out for some clever ways to destroy those hottest gadgets, too. But, in the meantime, we've mustered up our favorite segments of Season 3 to make the wait for Season 4 less grueling.
First up, we head back to Mount Shasta Ski Park to watch Molly rev a snowmobile over the poor Kindle Fire, Nokia Lumia 920, and a protected iPhone 5. She finished that fateful day with beer, hot chocolate, and a couple of iPods to dunk in her tasty beverages. While the Kindle Fire didn't stand a chance under the glass-crushing ski blade, the iPods had something to prove, and prove it they did.
We suppose now's a good time to announce the second Always On tortured-gadgets giveaway in one week! Yep, these iPods are still kicking out the jams perfectly despite drinking a good amount of post-ski-slope liquids. So, once again, stay tuned to the blog in the coming days for the official specs.
Let's get back to the best of. Next, we're in Barcelona, Spain, once again to relive the BlackBerry Z10 road test. Although the streets of Barcelona were a treat to get lost in, the fact that our wandering was at the hands of the new BlackBerry OS was a bit unsettling. After spending a week with the phone, it was quite therapeutic to huck it off a balcony. Plus, this time we included the deleted scene with Jeff and Molly eating their "unusual foods."
With the recent news of Google Fiber expanding to Austin, Texas, we felt it necessary to rerun Jeff's segment in Kansas City, Mo. They were a tad (very) camera shy in revealing when the masses will be able to access crazy-fast Internet speed, but including one more city is a step in the right direction. We can only hope San Francisco will be its next stop, but for now it looks like Google's sticking to the middle states.
Staying in line with the Google theme, we take a second look at the Chromebook Pixel. Molly loved this machine, and given that it's a strong candidate to be road-tested in Season 4, we figured it deserved a slot in the "best of" episode. With its cloud computing, touch-screen capability, and bizarre 3:2 aspect ratio, the Pixel unboxing stood out to us.
That's all for this week! We have a blooper reel in the mix for next Tuesday, so get ready. As always, thanks for watching!
