The new, improved Google Calendar app (pictures)
The updated Google Calendar app for Android and iOS brings a new design, revamped color palette and improved schedule-managing tools.
Welcome to Google Calendar
Google completely overhauled its Calendar mobile app for Android and released a new app for iOS devices. The apps both have clean, thoughtful designs and plenty of useful features.
Material Design
A big change for the app is the addition of Material Design, a style that adds color and illustrations to the app. For certain events, like dinner plans, movie nights and concerts, you'll see graphics to help you recognize your events.
Multiple views
In both apps, you can control how you view your calendar.
Schedule view
Schedule view shows you a list of your upcoming events by date. In the iPhone app, you'll see illustrations for your events too.
Month view
Month view is a little less useful in the redesigned app, because you can't see if you have anything scheduled on each day.
Create an event
The new Assists feature suggests events for you as you type. This is particularly helpful for events you create over and over, like a haircut appointment.
Detailed events
You can add extra details to your events, including location, guests and color labels.
