First Look: Zero in on your subject from far, far away with Olympus' Stylus SP-100EE

1:18 /

An inventive built-in dot sight, lets you quickly find your target with this camera's big 50x zoom lens.

[MUSIC] Trying to keep a long zoom lens on your target can be very difficult that, some camera makers try to help with this by letting you quickly zoom out and back in, but with the Stylus SP 100 Olympus gives you a targeting system. I'm Josh Goldman with CNET and right between the pop up flash and the body, there's a glass panel with crosshairs projected onto it. If you lose your subject when zoomed in, you just pop it up and use the crosshairs to get your subject back in the shot. It's a great feature and works well, but really outside of the 50x zoom lens, it's the only extra. There's no hot shoe, or mic jack, no wi-fi, or GPS. There are semi manual, and manual modes, but, no raw capture, and the three inch LTV is fixed, so it doesn't tilt, or rotate, and the body is plasticky. And, it's about the same price as competing models with more features. Photo and video quality are very good but nothing special for its class. You could read the full review on cnet.com but basically, the dot sight is a killer feature that really deserves to be paired with a better camera. I'm Josh Goldman and that's a quick look at the Olympus Stylus SP 100. [MUSIC]
