CNET News Video: Tech Minute: Wedding photographer for a day

1:02 /

Nothing will ever replace the formal photos from a wedding photographer. But for those silly dance floor pics or perhaps candid shots of cocktail hour, there are several new apps that make it easy for guests to act as amateur photographers. These apps let guests snap shots throughout the day and then share the special photos with the married couple. In this Tech Mintue, CNET's Kara Tsuboi reports on some of her favorite wedding photo sharing apps.

Weddingpartyapp.com lets brides and grooms fill their own custom app for their guests. Once your guests download the app for either the Androids or iPhones, they can leave notes on a virtual guestbook, add their own photos, and make comments on other people's pics. The married couple will like the app because they can create albums of the photos, and it's completely free to use. Another free app is from Wedpics.com, also available for both phone platforms. Guests get started by downloading the app and entering the special code for their friend's wedding. From there, guests can upload their photos, make comments, for the happy couple to enjoy in album form. Weddingsnap.com works in a similar way as the other two, but the betrothed couple will have their first purchase of photo package in order to make the app free for guests. Packages include photo prints and albums, and even professional retouching. Because after all, you'll never know just how skilled your uncle might be at taking photos. In San Francisco, I'm Kara Tsuboi, CNET.com for CBS News.
